Camden is one of our Neighbourhood Partners
More than 250,000 people live in Camden, and our borough is home to the third highest number of businesses in the UK.
Our vision is of a Camden where everyone has a chance to succeed, and nobody gets left behind. Together, we will create a place that works for everyone, and where everybody has a voice.
As Camden grows, we want young people from the areas affected most by redevelopment to have a voice and an opportunity to share their talents and lived experience.
The London Neighbourhood Scholarship helps to level the playing field for young people in the built environment by removing one of the largest obstacles: the cost of studying.
We are proud to partner with London Neighbourhood Scholarship as part of Good Work Camden, our service to help people find good quality work that enables them to live secure, sustainable and happy lives.
Councillor Danny Beales, Cabinet Member for Investing in Communities, Culture and an Inclusive Economy said:
“We know that the built environment does not currently represent the diversity of our residents in Camden. New homes and buildings need to be well designed and built to standards that meet the requirements of families from a diverse range of backgrounds. Despite the diversity of our neighbourhoods, 88% of architects are white and 72% are male. The development industry needs to reflect the communities it seeks to build for.
This scholarship aims to make a qualification in architecture a realistic ambition for all 16-18-year-olds, helping to diversify the industry’s current pool of talent and is being supported by Good Work Camden, our service that helps support local residents into good quality work enabling them to live secure, sustainable and happy lives.”
